If you’re young, don’t have much money, want to be involved in film production and are willing to work hard and start at the lowest rungs of the industry, you might be in luck.
That is if you both fit the requirements and manage to stop by the open house on time (if you’re late, they won’t let you in…which is itself a good, basic test for work reliability). The open house will be held next week at the offices of Brooklyn Workforce Innovations (BWI), a non-profit that works with the Mayor’s office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting to offer free skills training and a job placement program for unemployed or low-income young adults.
The next cycle of the “Made in NY” PA Training Program is planned to start in early JULY 2010.
The program’s aim? To promote diversity in NYC’s production industry by giving a break to all those in the city who wouldn’t normally have a way to work through the ranks to become…well, whatever they might want to in the city’s film and video industries.
The open house—next Tuesday and Wednesday (June 1-2) starts at 1pm sharp at BWI’s offices at 621 DeGraw Street, Brooklyn.

This is the 19th round of the program, with placement for participants with productions throughout the year. There is no fee for the training.
